Alright thanks for the link. Darn it I did try and bring in those files from 2008 to Max 9. Doesn't work... :(

But I do get the production shaders. Ya!

entry: I just checked out the production.pdf from mental images. Do you understand well how to use Card/Opacity Shader? I don't fully understand the description of that Shader. Do you know?

entry: Hi Jeff,

thanks for all your tips and tricks!

is it possible to use GI with the skydome? - i tried different things, but with the skydome GI cant store photons. does this effect the result? - becuase the rendering (indoor) seems to calculate the photons.

is this the right way to ask you about your mr-tips?

thanks Florian

entry: Personally, I wouldn't use a skydome with photons. My dome tutorial is primarily geared towards exterior scenes where photons generally aren't required. With that being said, you should be able to pass photons through the skydome by using a photon shader, or simply by hiding the dome during the GI calculation.

entry: Hey Jeff, I just read your entry called "Ultra basic material configuration scenes" and I would love to know where I can get one those for Maya. I am currently an educated hobbyist in shader creation and would love something like that to display them. Let me know if you've seen a maya scene file anywhere. Thanks a lot and keep up the good work.

Scott & Reptil: I could've sworn there was a thread in the Maya forum about creating a material test scene. But I searched today and couldn't find it. At any rate, I have a "more proper" test scene that I think I'll post as well. When I do (in the next day or so), I'll provide all the scenes in .obj format so anyone can use them that wants to.
Maryam: Thank you for the kind words.
